Women of the Future is part of the UK Founded Women of the Future Programme, which connects leaders across all industries on a global scale. The Mentor award recognizes active mentors and champions behind the success of emerging female talent in the region.

In her moving acceptance speech, Yu-Owen shared how Connected Women upskills Filipino women for the future of work “so that we don’t have to send our mothers out (overseas) and be nannies to the children of other people”.

She also remarked that ”technology is the low-hanging fruit to bring opportunities home to women” and dedicated the award to the 100,000 strong Connected Women community.

Philippines based Connected Women is a socially responsible AI and Digital Task outsourcing company that provides high quality data services to companies locally and globally. Their flagship program, Elevate AIDA which teaches AI data annotation, has been recognised by UN Women’s WEPS (Women Empowerment Principles) Awards and the ITU Digital World in Geneva.

The success of Ruth Yu-Owen and Connected Women is a shining example of what is possible when women help other women succeed in the tech industry.
