Remote Work Success Story: How This Lady Found Ease Working As A Part-Time Virtual Assistant For Eight Years

Kirstie, 26, a resident of Metro Manila, has been a part-time virtual assistant for eight years. She is also a law student, together with her VA job. “I found out about Connected Women because of Ms. Gina Romero,” she shares, referring to Connected Women’s co-founder.

Smooth Process Of Becoming A VA

Kirstie says that the process to becoming a part-time VA was very easy. “You just have to fill up an online form, undergo an interview, and you are good to go. I didn’t even have to wait long! I was matched with a client two days after creating my account,” she says.

Working For An International Women’s Organization

She describes how her typical work day goes. “I am an all-around VA,” explains Kirstie. “Imagine a personal secretary in an office, only that I don’t actually go to an office because I can work anywhere! The amazing woman I work for is the founder of a women’s organisation which is based in the UK.” Much like Connected Women, it is an organization for international business networking, training & development for female executives and entrepreneurs.

Compensation-wise, Kirstie is quite satisfied with her job as a VA. “I am happy with my paycheck,” she says. “It pays for my rent, monthly bills, and groceries. It gives me a lifestyle I think I deserve.” And this young lady knows how to live well, visiting different tourist spots around the world whenever she can.

Finding The Right Fit

She adds that she really didn’t think about going abroad for financial stability.  “Before Connected Women, I already know the perks of working online,” she explains. “It’s Connected Women that matched me with my best employer yet, though.”

“I’ve tried using other similar sites and usually the process takes too long and it’s a hit or miss. Not all employers are as amazing as the one Connected Women found for me,” she shares. “Now I can enjoy financial security and flexibility.” Kirstie says she plans on continuing with her travel while still managing to save for her future and to one day, build her own business.

Loving Remote Working

Remote working, according to Kirstie, has been convenient because she can work anytime and anywhere. “I don’t have to wake up early to prepare for work,” she says. “I also save money and time because I don’t have to go to an office.” Would she ever consider doing an office-based gig? “It depends on many factors such as pay and benefits,” she admits.

Overcoming Hurdles

When it comes to overcoming her life’s biggest failure, Kirstie says  “I had my heart broken and my dreams crushed many times,” “The worst part about failure is that you start to stop believing in yourself. The best way to overcome it is to accept the failure as it is. Take time to heal and open yourself to your loved ones. You are not alone in this world.”

Kirstie says this quote by Paulo Coelho, one of her favorite authors, as one of her life mantras. “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” With her fighting spirit and perseverance, we’re sure she’ll achieve many more of those life desires.
