Epson, Mercedes, and Lewis Hamilton Rev Up For High Performance

The Grand Prix presents many exciting events aside from the thrilling races; it’s all about high performance.

Just last week, Epson presented a technology showcase with MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team, with a special appearance by team driver Lewis Hamilton. Executive Lifestyle was invited to attend the private event to hear exciting insights on the long-term global partnership with Epson and the 2014 FIA Formula One World Champions.

There were many highlights during the media event, some of which include:

  • Executive Lifestyle’s expert contributors Karen Aroney Founder of PureVitality Nutrition Concepts, and Dr. Gary Tho, Founder of ChiroWorks, were treated to a showcase of Epson’s signature innovations, from its 3LCD projection technology to its latest wearables.
  • Espon Singapore also announced they intend to explore more ways to support local motorsports racers who aspire for a brighter future. This is in respect to the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts for youth development. Amin Noorzilan, a 17-year-old kart racer even had the opportunity to meet and speak with Lewis Hamilton during the event.
  • An exciting announcement towards innovation as Epson works with MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS on various product integration initiatives, “including portable printers and scanners at trackside to assist team operations. Projects are underway involving both the Moverio smartglasses, and the Runsense and Pulsense health sensing products”.

Commonalities of Epson and
MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS

Two seemingly unrelated brands have come together to advance technology not only in fast printing trackside, but to also deepen the technological advance of health products. Moverio Smartglasses are setting new standards for how we experience Augmented Reality; Runsense GPS Sports Monitor allows you to plan your training and accurately monitors performance with 99% accuracy versus a typical chest strap; while the Pulsense is a next-generation pulse tracker accelerometer but also an optical heart rate monitor!

On the partnership, Toto Wolff, Head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport said, “Epson’s use of innovative technology to deliver performance is perfectly aligned to what we strive to achieve in Formula One. Over the past 8 months, we have started to move beyond this shared philosophy into the practicalities of the team integrating Epson technology into many areas of our operation. This process has delivered some great benefits and will be continued into an exciting and deeper level of technical integration as our partnership matures.”

Drumming to the same tune with high admiration was Toshimitsu Tanaka, Managing Director of Epson’s Regional Office and Epson Singapore saying, “The two brands have much in common, from the relentless pursuit of innovation and global leadership to the creation of high-quality products. Epson is committed to deliver innovative high performance solutions. Through exciting collaborations and experiences, we aim to race ahead of the competition and remain the technology brand of choice for our corporate and retail customers.”

Executive Lifestyle Experts

Karen and Dr. Gary were specially chosen to attend the media event as two experts who are passionate about helping executives achieve high performance through optimal health. Dr. Gary’s work helps eliminate pain caused by the typical “desk warrior” lifestyle, while Karen uses personally designed nutrition to help busy professionals maintain high energy levels – despite grueling corporate travel and work schedules. Another example of businesses focused on achieving top performance.

An Interview to Inspire

Our experts also had the opportunity to listen to team driver Lewis Hamilton, who recounted his youth and how he was repeatedly discouraged from pursuing such a far-fetched dream of being a professional racing driver. According to Hamilton, the disheartening feedback only served to fuel his dream. His advice to aspiring kart driver Amin Noorzilan: “have self-belief, don’t listen to people who say you don’t have what it takes, and win”.

Have you ever heard the saying “it takes a village to raise a child”? Well, Toshimitsu Tanaka, Managing Director of Epson’s Regional Office and Epson Singapore thinks similarly concerning winning professionals; he asked, “what does it take to raise a champion? A dedicated team and a shared vision for excellence.”
