Digital Mentor And Implementer: A Day In The Life Of A Woman | Connected Women

She works in the exciting creative digital marketing realm where there is no such thing as a predictable everyday routine. As a Digital Mentor & Implementer, she is sharing how she achieves her daily goals by adjusting her plans and valuing time for herself.

Titled “A Day In The Life Of A Woman,” this series celebrates the women in our lives. From the everyday to inspirational, the series aims to highlight women from various fields and share a bit of the diversity we experience every day.

Marie Nadal Sharma says that as a Digital Mentor & Implementer, her schedule varies widely every day. She spends the majority of her week having one-to-one clarity session with clients, designing websites, implementing digital marketing strategies and going through analytics reports.

Digital Mentor And Implementer: A Day In The Life Of A Woman | Connected Women

“There is no such thing as a typical day in the life of a digital marketing expert,” she says. “Everything can suddenly change when coming to my clients’ rescue: WordPress bugs, questions on hashtags, Facebook ads, new algorithms, change of heart… you name it. I adjust my schedule constantly, adapting to my clients’ timings and challenges in a ‘digital’ way.’”

Marie is on a mission to guide entrepreneurs in their online journey. She is passionate about mentoring, inspiring and empowering, giving them the means, confidence and digital knowledge required to successfully carry their venture online.

Her areas of expertise include social media styling, content writing and her foremost favorite, website design, to name a few. Her creative streak, zest for life and genuine caring gives her a unique approach towards the intricacies of digital marketing. She helps her clients understanding some ‘back to basics’ notions and explains to them the dos and don’ts.

Below is an example of a “non-typical” day in her life:

7 AM: Start the day with lemon juice and hot water upon waking up followed by 30 minutes of social media inspiration on Instagram or Pinterest. Even as a digital marketing fan, I limit the time I spend every day on social media.

Discipline is key in getting things done.

8 AM: Have a healthy breakfast, then review my editorial content calendar for the week. I go through posts on social media platforms and plan the articles I will be writing.

9 AM: Check Slack or WhatsApp in case my clients need me first thing in the morning and then write down my five top priorities for the day. I evaluate them before checking my emails.

10 AM: After picking a cafe close to the venue of my next meeting, I order my latte, check and answer my emails and sort them in folders. Depending on the scope of work, I try to complete the first two/three priorities by 11 AM.

11 AM: I then have my first face-to-face meeting or I make my first call of the day, going through the wireframe for a client’s website, brainstorming on a creative project or discussing their social media marketing strategy.

12 NN: It’s time for yoga, followed by homemade lunch. I read a few articles that I had saved earlier if I have the time, to keep me updated about the tech/entrepreneurial world.

1 PM: For everything that needs design and creativity, like logos, flyers or visual graphics, I assign this afternoon time in order to keep the ideas flowing and to get back in the mood after lunch.

2 PM: Now, I work on websites, making required changes and sending the updated mockups to the client. I update pages on WordPress, research pictures and optimize the user experience.

3 PM: After an invigorating cup of coffee, I look into my analytics reports from the previous week and I engage with my online community on social media platforms.

4 PM: The last call of the day with a client. It could be about anything. Things often come unexpected in the digital world.

5 PM: I use this time to plan the SEO strategy for my clients’ websites and optimize content for their blog.

6 PM: I write down my five completed tasks and plan the ones for tomorrow. Then, I cycle for an hour, with salsa music to unwind and empty the mind.

7 PM: It’s back to work! I proofread my clients’ content and discuss content planning for their blog, newsletter or social media.

8 PM: Time to slow down! My husband and I discuss our respective days while we prepare dinner, trying our hand at something new.

9 PM: I spend another hour talking to a client or a friend.

10 PM: Netflix or reading a book—it depends on my mood and my level of fatigue.

11 PM: You’ll find me reading a book, or watching an online tutorial or TED talks for a while, switching off phone notifications, and making sure my mind does not wander back to work.

12 AM: A short meditation with light music then time to switch off.

Always Open To Change And The Importance Of “Me Time”

Marie talks about how unpredictable the day of a digital marketing expert can be and how important it is to adapt

“This is how a typical day in the life of a digital marketing expert looks like. Sometimes I feel like everything is multiplied by two because things keep coming and disrupting the day,” she explains. “There is no particular routine in what I do. There is always something happening and my schedule must be ready to adapt quickly, answering matters that need my immediate attention. I keep changing the schedule along the day but I always ensure a one-hour meeting with myself to keep the motivation and inspiration going—one hour to gather my thoughts and empty a space in my mind for better productivity later on.”
