Are You Drinking The Right Water?

Water is made up of 2 parts hydrogen and 1 part oxygen(H2O), and is one of the most essential molecules to our health. Water makes up two-thirds of our body in weight, and is distributed throughout our body in the following proportions:

  • Brain – 75%
  • Blood – 83%
  • Muscle – 75%
  • Skin – 72%
  • Bone – 22%

Water functions as supporting fluid for the blood cells. It serves as a medium for the transport of oxygen, nutrients and toxins between the body cells and their environment. Water is needed as a cushion and lubricant in our joints.

A 2% drop in water supply will trigger signs of dehydration: fuzzy short-term memory, difficulty focusing, and fatigue. Therefore, it is important that we make sure there is continuous intake of water.

What Kind Of Water Is Considered Good?

As long as the water is pathogen and pollutant free, it is good enough for drinking. Drinking water is never chemically pure as it always contains ions, such as calcium, magnesium, iron and manganese. When it is positively charged, it will be balanced by negatively charged ions, such as carbonates and bicarbonates.

Beware of healthcare and wellness companies that promote fancy water, touting benefits for the body with pseudoscience that is totally against the basic chemistry of water.

1.) Hydrogenated Water

Water with hydrogen gas added to make reduced water with overall negative electric potential is nonsense. Hydrogen atoms are so reactive that they immediately combine with each other to reform two parts of hydrogen (H2). It is impossible to achieve a detectable concentration of hydrogen atoms in a liquid medium such as H2O.

2.) Oxygenated Water

All water exposed to oxygen is oxygenated. Normal oxygen level is 8 mg per liter of water at room temperature. Oxygenated water with 40 mg oxygen per liter of water is made by pumping oxygen under pressure. The lungs have a natural ability to absorb the right amount of oxygen through breathing. Extra oxygen cannot be absorbed in the stomach or intestine and, by the way, oxygen is a poison in the cells.

3.) Ionized Or Alkaline Water

By using magnetic treatment to impart electric charge to the water to create ionized or alkaline water, it is claimed that the ionized water can destroy free radicals generated in the body. It is also suggested that alkaline water creates an alkaline environment in the body, which helps cells to function at their optimum.

In reality, it is impossible to retain a net electric charge of significant magnitude. Bulk matter containing excess electron cannot exist.Water is inherently neutral, that is, neither alkaline nor acidic. To have water at stable alkaline state, there must be chemicals to keep the water alkaline. Anyway, even if the water is alkaline, the stomach acid will make it acidic once it is drunk.

4.) Clustered, Structured Water

A micro-cluster of water to promote the flow of water into body cells. In actual fact, water is a huge cluster of loosely connected networks and the internal connections are continuously undergoing re-arrangement.

So, don’t be fooled by the claims these companies make on the health benefits of fancy water. Just look at the basic chemistry and science of water and you will know that they are not possible. All you need to do is ensure that the water is filtered and clear of pollutants and toxins; then it is good enough to drink.
