Amazing Cancer-Fighting Foods: Fight Cancer With A Plant-Based Diet

In my last post, I highlighted that the easiest and least expensive way to help fight cancer is a plant-based diet, and the best doctor on the planet to fight cancer is inside all of us.

In the medical world, doctors are trained to attack cancer with drugs. When there is no drug, there is no cure. Surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy seldom produce a complete cure for cancer according to the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Facts and Figures 2007 report. Doctors are not trained in nutrition and diet as a form of healing the body, so they don’t support such treatments.

According to The RAVE Diet & Lifestyle by Mike Anderson, you should switch to a 100% whole food, plant-based diet immediately. 50% of the diet should preferably be organic, because organic plant foods have higher levels of cancer-fighting micro-nutrients and less cancer-causing pesticides.

A plant–based diet can help fight cancer in the following ways:

  • Block inflammation that fuel cancer cell growth
  • Cause cancer cells to commit suicide (apoptosis)
  • Detoxify cancer-causing toxins
  • Protect the cells from free radicals that trigger cancer cell growth
  • Trick cancer cells into digesting themselves (autophagy).

Cancer-Fighting Diet

1) Green Leafy Vegetables

Juicing and blending the vegetables provide the micro-nutrients that fight the free radicals and toxins generated by cancer cells. Juicing takes away most of the fiber, but you can consume more nutrients and this is one method of supplementing the diet. Blending keeps the fiber and should be part of the main diet.

2) Cruciferous Vegetables

A member of the cabbage family; examples are kale, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and Brussels sprouts. These vegetables release sulforaphane when they are chewed. Sulforaphane shrinks tumor cells.

3) Curcumin

Curcumin has an anti-inflammatory effect and interferes with cell signaling, thereby suppressing the proliferation and invasion of cancer cells. Curcumin is found in yellowish spices that are commonly used in Indian cooking.

4) Ginger

Ginger kills cancer cells by causing the cancer cells to commit suicide without harming the surrounding cells. It also tricks cancer cells into digesting themselves.

5) Food To Avoid

Sugary food – cancer cells consume 18 times more sugar (glucose) than normal cells. Go for low Glycemic Index food.

Processed food – food that contains white flour, white sugar, and vegetable oil are low in cancer-fighting nutrients and high in cancer-creating toxins.

Animal protein from meat, dairy and their produces. The animals are fed on crops that are heavy in pesticides because there is no regulation in the amount of pesticides used in crops for animal feeds.

Here is a real-life example of how to fight cancer with the right diet:

Dr. Ruth Heidrich, a triathlete, author and talk-show host was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 47. She felt betrayed by her body, considering that she had been running for 14 years. She underwent surgery to remove the lumps but the cancer has spread to the bone and formed lesions in the lungs.

Dr. Ruth converted to a vegan diet instead of receiving any dose of radiotherapy or chemotherapy. She has been cancer-free for 20 years and continues to run in road races and triathlons.

According to Albert Schweitzer, “Each patient carries his own doctor inside him”. So, arming your body to fight cancer is the best solution.
