10 Reasons Not To Miss Slush Singapore

Slush? What’s slush? That colourful, refreshing drink we love on hot sunny days?

No. We mean something better.

What Is Slush?

Slush is a non-profit movement led by local students and entrepreneurs, characterized by a unique energy and enthusiasm. Founded with a vision to change attitudes towards entrepreneurship, Slush has grown from a 300-person assembly to a world-renowned event. Today, Slush is organized in countries around the world. In 2015, Slush brought together 15,000 attendees from 100 countries for the two-day main event held in Helsinki.

Here are ten reasons why you should not miss Slush Singapore!

1. One Tiny Island, One Huge Event

The long wait is over – Slush is finally landing in Singapore!

In partnership with Singapore’s major innovation and enterprise event, Techventure, Slush Singapore will make its debut in Singapore at the Resorts World Convention Centre on September 20, 2016 during the inaugural Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH).

Why Singapore? Singapore was ranked amongst the top 10 Global Startup Ecosystems by Compass.co (formerly known as Startup Genome) in 2015. It is known to be the premier startup launchpad of Southeast Asia with excellent funding opportunities, market reach and startup experience. For 10 years in a row, Singapore retained its status as the easiest country in which to do business, according to the World Bank.

With Singapore having one of the most vibrant ecosystems in Asia, Slush Singapore is guaranteed to be an extremely successful and memorable event for everyone!

2. It’s NOT Your Regular Business Conference

Unlike other tech conferences, Slush is a collision of conference and festival, highly characterised by energy and enthusiasm to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship. At Slush Singapore, we will create a great platform to allow a community of passionate entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, innovators, and investors to interact with one another.

3. Built By Entrepreneurs, For Entrepreneurs

Slush Singapore is designed for growing companies of all stages and industries. Whether you are looking for investors, customers, media exposure or mentoring, Slush is a unique opportunity to showcase your company to a global audience (including the who’s who in the tech community!). Our only job is to help the next generation of world-conquering founders forward.

4. The Next Stop For Global Investors

In the past five years, Slush has grown into the largest venturing event in Europe. Last year, close to 800 investors participated in Slush in Helsinki, representing 250 VC firms and over 200 billion dollars assets under management. In addition to Helsinki, Slush has gathered hundreds of investors in China and Japan. Being the startup hub of Southeast Asia, Singapore will be a great location for global investors to make their investments in various companies.

5. A Platform For Established Companies And Brands To Connect With Startups

At Slush, we do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach but instead we focus on putting established corporations together with the right startups. Slush Singapore serves as a great opportunity for companies to have their product launches, open innovation challenges, and networking as they get to explore emerging technology trends. Last year, Slush in Helsinki hosted 200 CEOs of stock-listed companies and 100 M&A departments.

Some of the partners who are already on board with Slush Singapore include Techventure, Golden Gate Ventures, Mediacorp, Channel NewsAsia, and many other well-known companies.

6. Slush Pitching Competition × Channel News Asia

Slush Singapore is partnering Channel NewsAsia and Techventure in presenting the 30 best seed-stage companies of Slush Singapore on stage. All applicants are screened by a pool of top-tier venture capitalists and the competition runs through the whole day at the event on September 20, and culminates with the finals taking place on the main stage. The pitching competition acts as a great opportunity for new startups to spark rapid growth and expansion of their company into Southeast Asia.

Furthermore, the winning startup will also secure a spot to compete in Slush 100 Pitching Competition in November 2016 in Helsinki, Finland. Eight startups will be selected to participate in Channel NewsAsia’s Start-UP TV program in Singapore, and up to four winners will stand to win a huge seed funding of up to SGD500,000 each.

*Note: If your startup is not chosen to pitch, you will receive an extra startup pass instead, whereby you will be listed in our Startup Directory and will have special networking access.

7. Meet The Hottest Startups At Demo Booths

60 startups will be chosen at Slush Singapore to showcase their products to investors, media, and other attendees at the demo booths, which are centered at the heart of the venue on the day itself.

8. Speakers With A Wealth Of Experience

Slush Singapore will feature a myriad of speakers from all over the world to share their personal entrepreneurial experiences. These are experts gathered at Slush for a common purpose – to share their stories and open your eyes, to share their passion and open your heart, and, lastly, to share their wisdom and open your mind.

9. Pick Up Valuable Industry Insights

With experience comes refined skills and knowledge, and that’s what our speakers have. More than that, they have a genuine desire to share their wisdom with you!
