How To Stop Comparing And Competing – And Start Living!

This week is all about living life on your terms, defined by your standards.

One of the biggest causes of stress and unhappiness is our human tendency to compete and compare with someone else. Social media promotes just that – we scroll through the newsfeed and we see a friend or a colleague doing really well. Maybe they just launched a new product, got a new gig or performed overseas to a large crowd. Instantly, we feel a sense of loss – like we are somehow not as good as them. Feelings of inadequacy start to well up and, once again, we feel like our life is a mess.

If you can relate to this, I wrote this article just for you.

I’ve given the concept of happiness and life-design a lot of thought and I keep coming back to the same conclusion: Every one of us is born with a special gift, and we each have a unique destiny. Our job on this planet is to fulfill that which is inside us, guided by our true happiness.

Honestly – and this is really magical – the thing that you should be doing in life is the thing that truly makes you the happiest. I believe the great universal spirit is a friendly, loving one … and we are all blessed to do what really makes us happy. So when you compare yourself to someone else, you are sacrificing your uniqueness in order to be like someone else. It’s little wonder that nothing good or positive comes out of that.

The good news is – you CAN CHANGE IT. Use what other people are doing as fuel to motivate yourself to be your best. Don’t knock yourself down or get jealous! Instead, be happy that they are living out their purpose in the best way they can … and that’s something you can do, too! Commit to living your best self and challenge yourself to be and do more. More importantly, love – value and appreciate what you already have.

The funny thing is YOU might be the benchmark for someone else out there - the person THEY constantly compare themselves to. Limit the time you spend on social media, and instead, commit to setting goals and actualizing them. Upgrade yourself, grow your gifts and let your light shine.

Wish people who are on the rise, well, knowing that it will just be a matter of time before you join them. More importantly, do your work and know that whatever it is, it has a purpose and it is special. You make a difference.

In the end, our lives are all a marathon race for one: the only person we should be racing against is who we were yesterday.

You are special - and don't you ever, ever forget that!

In closing, take a few moments to reflect on the following pointers:

  • What can you do to stay focused on your path every single day?
  • What's special and UNIQUE about YOU?
  • What amazing things would happen if you stayed on your path?

The more you create your reality, the more your dreams will come true. I want to hear your success story. I wish you strength and focus!

Live fearlessly,
