Neuro Education CEO: A Day In The Life Of A Woman | Connected Women

Amutha is currently Chief Operating Officer of the neuroeducation organization, Da Vinci Group, which she co-founded in 2012. As COO, she manages the day-to-day operations of the company.

Amutha fronts the NeuroCeramics® classes for children from 18 months to 16 years old through Da Vinci Group’s various clay programs. She has a passion for teaching and empowering children through play-based learning.

She also has an artistic side and loves to create crafts. Prior to this, she founded Amooo’s in early 2012 which focuses on creating ceramic wares that crystallize beautiful memories in a tangible form. She is frequently commissioned for her artwork and her pieces have found homes both locally and internationally.

One of the days of this multi-faceted COO might go like this:

5 AM: Wake up, get changed to go for a walk—quickly do this before I talk myself out of it!

6 AM: Enjoy the peace and quiet while walking. My brain slowly wakes up 15 minutes into the walk, then I plan my day or what there is to do while walking. Sometimes instead of this, I listen to music or listen to a TED talk during the walk.

7 AM: Buy breakfast and essentials. Wake up my son, Dronan, for breakfast while I do some chores and get us dressed.

8 AM: Leave the house with Sara (short for Saravanan), my co-founder, to drop Dronan off to school and then we proceed to work.

9 AM: Have a morning meeting with the team and align ourselves on what we are creating for the day; sometimes Sara leads this, sometimes I lead this.

10 AM: Have a meeting with a preschool or other affiliate partner in the education industry, either in the office or at their premises.

11 AM: Travel to another lunch meeting/lunch networking session or head back to the office to send out proposals and emails before lunch

12 PM: Have lunch with Sara or the team.

1 PM: Either go for another meeting or get on calls to preschools where I talk to them about what Da Vinci Group does and introduce them to our cutting-edge programmes.

2 PM: Still on calls.

3 PM: Still on calls or would have travelled to another meeting with a preschool or partner in the education industry. Some days I go in to deliver a NeuroCeramics or NeuroTheatre class in a school we work with.

4 PM: Either on calls or would have gone in to observe a NeuroCeramics or NeuroTheatre being delivered by my trainers.

5 PM: Wrap up and travel back to the office.

6 PM: End of the day meeting with the team to acknowledge what we’ve accomplished.

7 PM: Either go to my parents-in-law’s house to pick up Dronan (the school bus would have dropped him off there), go for an evening networking session, meet some friends for dinner, or go for dinner with Sara.

8 PM: Still at dinner, either outside or at home.

9 PM: Put Dronan to sleep and stop myself from dozing off.

10 PM: Come outside to the living room, have a glass of wine with Sara, watch some BBC Earth, Master Chef or some travel show or finish up pressing proposals.

11 PM: Sleep.

Whatever field you’re passionate about, Amutha’s day testifies that with hard work, you can accomplish so much for yourself, your family, and others!
