Celebration of International Women’s Day! – Singapore – March 19 (Event)

Aidha and the Singapore Committee for UN Women are pleased to invite you to celebrate foreign domestic workers being bold for change in the month of International Women’s Day this Sunday, 19 March 2017 at Aidha’s Campus at United Word College, Dover.

The fun-filled event will have live music, a festive lunch, money management games, a STEM workshop in partnership with UN Women’s Girls2Pioneers programme, Aidha Volunteer Orientation, student stories of transformational change, ‘Aidha Chat and Connect’ to interact with students and mentors, and a personal grooming workshop organised by Benefit Cosmetics. Anyone interested to show support to foreign domestic workers’ work in Singapore is welcome to join the celebration, so feel free to share this event with your colleagues, friends, and helpers!

A key International Women’s Day theme this year is ‘Be Bold For Change’. FDWs exemplify this theme, having the courage to uproot themselves to live and work with new families, all to create a brighter future for themselves and their families at home. The Aidha community supports them in their efforts to change their lives and break the cycle of poverty. By holding this event, the Singapore Committee for UN Women and Aidha recognize the hard work and courage of all FDWs.

Please register for the event below.
(Note: If you are interested to attend Volunteer Orientation, please also register for it separately and note that this session starts at 11am.)

Aidha

Aidha (a Sanskrit word meaning ‘that to which we aspire’) is an award-winning, Singapore-registered charity set up in July 2006. Aidha believes in ‘sustainable futures through financial education’, and that every woman should have the opportunity and choice to determine her own future.

With every Aidha student sharing her skills with family and friends, an entire community benefits - making the multiplier effect of the charity's financial literacy programme significant and life-changing. Their impact studies show that by educating one woman, Aidha can help impact nine lives.
