Part 1 covered how yoga is a tool for women to take back their own power, to take back their own wisdom and choices, to accept and celebrate their own shape, colour, age and size – creating a fertile soil for women to move forward as the strong, sexual and beautiful creatures that we truly are. And today we're looking at yoga postures that empower!

Yoga is, above all, a path of personal transformation and the way to that place in each of us is different. I regularly come across women who are depressed, suffering from anxiety or just lost – not sure who they are or aware of their power or beauty: their age or background doesn’t seem to matter.

Being a fairly 'normal' yogi (I drink diet coke, I watch Eastenders, etc.) the thought of going on a yoga retreat would have scared the bejesuz out of me not so long ago. Everyone has preconceived ideas about yoga or the type of person that might go on a yoga retreat or what a retreat might be, but let me dispel some yoga retreat myths for you today.

Mum and baby yoga is becoming increasingly popular, as post-partum women discover the benefits of being able to ‘work out,’ bond with their baby, and relax all in one session. Many women turn to yoga for the first time during pregnancy (YogaBellies Birth Outcome Survey 2012) being attracted by the calming and strengthening aspects of yoga.
